Child Trends led an evaluation of DC’s 2010 Healthy Schools Act to explore possible associations with the act and students’ health knowledge and behaviors, as well as to better understand the Act’s implementation over time and across schools. Evaluation activities include secondary data analysis, focus groups and interviews, and a staff survey. The project also included developing the 2015-16 DC Health and Physical Education Assessment based on DC’s newly adopted health standards to assess health knowledge in 5th-grade, 8th-grade, and high-school students. Assessment activities included cognitive interviews, platform construction, reporting, and item-bias analyses.
