Child Trends Board of Directors Selects New President

WASHINGTON, DC—The Board of Directors of Child Trends today announced the selection of a new President, Carol A. Emig. The current President, Kristin A. Moore, will resume full-time research responsibilities as a Child Trends Senior Scholar, and will lead the new Research-to-Results program area. The transition will occur in October.

 

Emig is currently Executive Director of the nonpartisan Pew Commission on Children in Foster Care, where her work has been widely praised. Several of the Commission’s recommendations to improve outcomes for children in foster care have been adopted by Congress and state courts across the country; others have a prominent role in ongoing policy debates over how best to ensure safety, permanence, and well-being for children in foster care.  Emig will continue to serve as a resource to the Pew Commission after she joins Child Trends.

 

Prior to joining the Pew Commission, Emig served as Vice President for External Relations at Child Trends, where she established Child Trends’ communications program. She has held numerous other positions in the fields of research and policy including: Senior Associate at the Center for the Study of Social Policy and Deputy Director of the National Commission on Children.

Moore noted that she looks forward to working with Emig during the transition and in coming years. “Carol is a good colleague, and I am confident that Child Trends’ mission will prosper under her leadership.”
