EDUCATION

Education research focuses on the qualities of children, families, and schools that support the flourishing of children and youth.  We study individual competencies, character, learning behaviors, and school performance, as well as teacher qualifications, school context and practices, and family strengths that are related to positive educational outcomes.

We are currently working in five areas:

  • Charter schools.  We are developing indicator reports measuring the state of charter schools, students, staff, systems, and performance.
  • Indicators of flourishingWe are developing a set of positive indicators of flourishing among children and youth for inclusion in national surveys, research studies, and program evaluations.
  • Status of education.  We are analyzing national data from the U.S. Department of Education to produce policy-relevant reports and research briefs.
  • International comparisons.  We are analyzing international datasets to compare education and  child well-being in the U.S. with other countries.
  • Item and survey development.  We are developing items and redesigning surveys on education and child well-being for the federal government and foundations.
